| Description: |
The community is located on the edge of the heritage listed Arafura Wetlands in Central Arnhem Land. Ramingining is located approximately 580 km east of Darwin, 435 km west of Nhulunbuy and 30 km inland from the coast. Whilst the community is accessible by road (4wd) and air, all roads to the community are closed during the wet season. Travel time by road to Darwin and Nhulunbuy is 8 hours. Ramingining has a sealed, all weather air strip. Travel time by air to Darwin: 2.5 hrs, to Nhulunbuy: 45-50 mins. There is a weekly freight barge service from Darwin to Ramingining via the Glyde River. |
